Expanded our reach to serve 1500+ students across West Bengal and Tripura, achieving over 1200 audio books in our library.
In 2021, Tarak Chandra—a history teacher at Madhyamgram High School and himself blind since birth—decided that no student should struggle the way he once did. Years of struggling to find usable study materials showed him the biggest barrier for blind students: a lack of accessible textbooks.
With that insight and an unshakeable resolve, Tarak founded Prerana Audio Library in Guma, North 24 Parganas, West Bengal. What began as a humble recording setup in a quiet classroom has grown into a volunteer-driven studio that converts school and university curricula into high-quality Bengali and English audiobooks—free of cost, forever.
The results speak for themselves. In the most recent board examinations, dozens of Prerana listeners secured 80%–90% marks in their secondary and higher-secondary exams, proving that the right resources can transform potential into achievement.
Prerana means inspiration—and that is exactly what we aim to deliver: a clear, accessible path to education for every visually-impaired student in West Bengal and beyond.
What started as a small initiative to record textbooks for a few local students has now grown into a comprehensive platform serving over 1500 students across West Bengal and Tripura. Our journey is a testament to the power of community, technology, and unwavering commitment to educational equality.
